The Karnataka High Court has deferred the filing of the Lokayukta's report against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his family, including his wife and brother-in-law in the MUDA scam case.
This development came in a plea seeking to transfer the investigation into the MUDA case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Senior Advocates Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Kapil Sibal appearing for Siddaramaiah and the State respectively, submitted that they would be filing objections to the plea.
While Justice M Nagaprassanna had initially directed for a stay on the trial court proceedings in the interim, there was an objection to the same by the advocates for the petitioner.
Accordingly, the court held, "This court would not permit a district court to secure report and pass order on it when matter is being heard by this court. Therefore to protect proceedings pending before this court. I deem it appropriate to extend the time granted to file final report to 28-01-2025."
