Virtual Traffic Court Made Operational In Gujarat For Traffic eChallans

Virtual Traffic Court at Metropolitan Court, Ahmedabad for Traffic eChallans from Gujarat was made operational on May 03.

"Upon successful integration of One Nation One Challan project with Traffic Police Challans and RTO Challans in the State of Gujarat, the Virtual Traffic Court under the aegis of the eCourts Project has been implemented with guidance from the eCommittee of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and assistance from NIC team at Pune, Maharashtra," the Gujarat High Court Registrar General said.

The Virtual Traffic Court was made operative in accordance with the guidance of the Acting Chief Justice A. J. Desai and the Chairperson of the I. T. Committee of the High Court and other Judges of the I.T. Committee.

The Virtual Traffic court has been designed with the objective to eliminate the need for litigants to appear in person at court, as the system allows the users and vehicle owners to complete all the proceedings online.

According to the press release, if an eChallan fine amount is not paid within 90 days, the eChallan is automatically transmitted to the servers of Virtual Traffic Court. 

"Upon the Virtual Traffic Court taking up the matter and proceeding to issue notice, SMS notice would be sent to the mobile phone of the vehicle owner. Thereafter, the vehicle owner can pay up the fine imposed by the Virtual Traffic Court through online payment mode or choose to contest the case in the regular Court," the Registrar General said.
