Chief Justice Sunita Agarwal formally inaugurated the country's first Med-Arb Centre at the Gujarat High Court Arbitration Centre on August 15, 2024.

The inauguration followed the flag hoisting ceremony and was attended by judges of the High Court, specially trained mediators for Med-Arb, and other legal luminaries.

The Med-Arb Centre is designed to facilitate the settlement of disputes where arbitration has been the chosen mode of dispute resolution. In May 2024, eleven lawyers were given extensive training in Med-Arb under the supervision of Justice Vikram Nath, Judge, Supreme Court of India. These trained professionals will now serve as mediators at the newly established centre.

It has been reported that one referral made by the Arbitration Court of the High Court, involving a significant financial stake, has already been successfully settled at the centre.

Later in the day, a cultural program titled "Muskan" showcased performances by disabled children, who demonstrated their talents as part of the celebrations.
