    The Delhi High Court Women Lawyers' Forum on Friday inaugurated literary club in the presence of Justice Rekha Palli and Justice Chandra Dhari Singh.

    The two judges were the guest of honour of the inaugural event. Special guests were Senior Advocate Sanjay Jain ( poet) and Advocate & Author Malavika Rajkotia.



    The inauguration took place in Delhi High Court's Bar Room 18, Ground Floor, Main Building at 4:30 PM.

    During the event, Justice Palli promoted reading by lawyers and congratulated the Delhi High Court Women Lawyers' bar for the initiative.

    The judge read a poem about the challenged of layering during covid, from the book " rose and its thorn" penned by the attorney general, she also read from to Rajkotia's book titled “Unpartitioned Time: A Daughter's Story” and said that the book acknowledges emotion.

    Justice Palli also said that the literary club initiative will make bond amongst the lawyers that will always be remembered.

    In his speech, Justice Chandra Dhari Singh said that reading enhances human nature and also raise socio -economic issues. The judge said that knowledge of diverse cultures gained through literature enhance us as lawyers and humans.

    Justice Singh also appreciated the innovative initiative of the literary club and dedicated the poem " Tum mujhe Kab tak rokoge" by Hari Wansh Rai Bachchan to all women and first general lawyers. Justice Singh said the poem acknowledged the struggle of women lawyers with non legal background and gave hope that they will overcome. He said the presence of so many women in courts is proof of that.




    Senior Advocate Sanjay Jain referred to a poem from his book that depicted the struggles of a young lawyer and heart break of a young man. Malavika Rajkotia, read excerpts from her book " unpartitioned time" and also the dissent by Jusitce khanna in ADM Jabalpur, which she described as poetic. Ms. Rajkotia spoke of the close connection between law and literature and touched on the story " the trial" by kafla to highlight the absurdity of law at times and john Grisham for his many law based novels.




    The women lawyers forum also felcitated Mr. Mohit Mathur president DHCBA and the executive committee for setting up a welfare fund for women lawyers under the aegis of the Bar.

    The organizing committee for the event includes Advocates Aarzu Khattar, Asees Kaur, Geetika Panwar, Kadambari, Mahima Ahuja, Meenal Duggal, Nandita Rao, Neha Rastogi, Sangeeta Bharti, Sanyukta Gupta, Sunieta Ojha and Swaty Malik.
