While quashing an attempt to commit culpable homicide case after settlement between the parties, the Delhi High Court has directed all 24 individuals involved in the matter to do “basic cleaning work” for three days at four police stations by dividing themselves in four groups.
“The said 24 persons shall be at liberty to decide amongst themselves as to the composition of each group of 6 persons and also the Police Station where each group shall undertake the aforesaid basic cleaning duty,” Justice Saurabh Banerjee said.
The court quashed the FIR registered in July under Section 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) and 34 (common intention) of Indian Penal Code, 1860.
This was after a compromise deed was entered into between the accused and the complainants on September 02. Accordingly, the accused persons filed the petition seeking quashing of the FIR.
The complainants told court that they had voluntarily settled all disputes with the accused persons, did not wish to pursue the criminal proceedings and had no objection to the quashing of the FIR.
Allowing the plea, the court directed all the parties to divide themselves in four groups of six persons each and to do basic cleaning work on Monday, Thursday and Sunday of the week commencing from September 18 at Mehrauli, Fatehpur Beri, Maidan Garhi and Neb Sarai police stations.
Justice Banerjee directed that the said work must be undertaken to the satisfaction of the Investigating Officer concerned.
“The petition, alongwith the pending applications, if any, stands disposed of. Lastly, this Court applauds the generous efforts put in by each of the 24 parties involved in the present petition before this Court,” the court said.
Advocates Vipin Sehrawat and Aakash Godara appeared for the petitioners.
ASC Rupali Bandhopadhya appeared for the State with Advocates Akshay Kumar and Abhijeet Kumar.
