The Delhi Police on Friday informed the Delhi High Court that it has granted permission to an organization, Save India Constitution, to hold a public meeting (All India Muslim Mahapanchayat) at the Ramlila Ground on December 18.

Taking note of city police's stand, Justice Subramonium Prasad disposed of the organisation's plea seeking no-objection certificate (NOC) to organize the public meeting.

“In view of the fact that permission has been granted to the petitioner organization to hold the event on December 18 on the points to be ensured by the organizer to secure safe and smooth conduct of the programme, the writ petition is disposed of,” the court said.

The Delhi Police on November 30 granted NOC to the organization after a meeting was held with Advocate Mehmood Pracha, who is the convener of Save India Constitution, to discuss the modalitics of the proposed rally.

The That gathering of participants in the rally would not significantly increase than the proposed 10000 persons.

That Delhi Police asked the organization to ensuree that the names and numbers of the speakers would not exceed or changed and that no speakers would speak anything against the law or any kind of hate speech that can disturb the public harmony.

“The organizer shall be abided by all the lawful terms and conditions/ directions issued by ACP/SHO or police officers on duty keeping in view the local situation of law &order for maintaining peace and order in the area,” the Delhi Police's NOC reads.

The organization claims to work for creating awareness among the masses, especially the depressed classes, about their constitutional rights.

The court had last month refused to grant permission to the organization to hold a similar public meeting at the Ramlila Ground on October 29.

It upheld the Delhi Police's decision which revoked the permission granted to the organization for holding the meeting, observing that it cannot be held to be arbitrary.
