    The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the names of nine Additional Judges of the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad for appointment as permanent Judges of the High Court.     The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the names of nine Additional Judges of the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad for appointment as permanent Judges of the High Court. They are:

    (i) Justice Syed Qamar Hasan Rizvi,

    (ii) Justice Manish Kumar Nigam,

    (iii) Justice Anish Kumar Gupta,

    (iv) Justice Nand Prabha Shukla,

    (v) Justice Kshitij Shailendra,

    (vi) Justice Vinod Diwakar,

    (vii) Justice Prashant Kumar,

    (viii) Justice Manjive Shukla, and

    (ix) Justice Arun Kumar Singh Deshwal

    The Supreme Court collegium released a resolution in this regard today. It states that on 28 May 2024, the Collegium of the High Court unanimously recommended that the above-named Additional Judges be appointed permanent Judges. The Chief Minister and the governor of the State of Uttar Pradesh also concurred with the recommendation.

    Therefore, in terms of the Memorandum of Procedure, the Judges of the Supreme Court, conversant with the affairs of the Allahabad High Court, were consulted to ascertain the suitability of the above-named Judges for being appointed as permanent Judges.

    A Committee of two Supreme Court judges, constituted by the Chief Justice of India in terms of the Resolution dated 26 October 2017 of the Supreme Court Collegium, assessed the judgments of the above-named Additional Judges.

    To assess the merit and suitability of the above-named Additional Judges for their appointment as permanent Judges, the Collegium also scrutinized and evaluated the material placed on record, including the opinion of the consultee colleagues and the reports of the Judgment Assessment Committee.

    Considering all aspects of the above proposal, the Supreme Court collegium recommended that the 9 Additional Judges of the HC be made permanent.
