The Allahabad High Court today held a full court reference to bid farewell to Justice Surya Prakash Kesarwani upon his transfer to Calcutta High Court.
“I have always considered judicial work as God’s work,” Justice Keserwani said in a speech delivered in Hindi and Sanskrit.
Chief Justice Pritinker Diwaker praised Justice Kesarwani’s dedication towards judicial responsibilities and his assistance on the administrative working of the High Court.
“Transfer of Justice Kesarwani from this institution to Kolkata is a personal loss for me, since ever since I joined at Allahabad, he had given short and wise suggestions. His exceptional work, ethics and commitment have earned him the reputation of an outstanding and diligent judge. His remarkable ability to interact with both the members of the bar and bench and the registry including the staff of the Court is truly commendable,” the CJ said.
While praising the approach adopted by Justice Keserwani towards lawyers, Additional Advocate General, Mr. Manish Goyal said “let us not lament his departure from Prayagraj but rather let us celebrate the legacy he leaves behind."
Justice S.P. Kesarwani was elevated as an Additional Judge of the Allahabad High Court on 12th April 2013 and took oath as a Permanent Judge on 2nd August 2014. He is the seniormost judge of the Allahabad High Court. Vide notification dated 18th October, 2023 he has been transferred to Calcutta High Court.
