GNLU Offers A 'Certificate Course On European And Italian Corporate Law'

This course examines some European law aspects of corporate law, with a specific focus on Italian corporate law. The course analyses the harmonized areas of company law in Europe, and discuss common features of and variation in national corporate law practices across Europe.

In that context, it will be analyzed the importance of the Italian Corporate law provisions and the civil law system in the European process of harmonization. The course will cover the principal aspects of Italian corporate law, also making a comparison with specific aspects of corporate law provisions of other EU Members.

This course examines also documents and materials related to concrete transactions made by international law firms, in order to provide some tools for the application of the legal knowledge during the day-by-day activities of a corporate lawyer.

About Resource Person: 

Dr. Matteo Smacchi is teaching assistant and honorary research fellow in comparative private law at Luiss “Guido Carli” University of Rome, where he has also obtained a Ph.D. in law and economics in 2014. He participated in the 2015 Summer Institute in law and economics at University of Chicago Law School, and he was also Visiting Research Fellow at Fordham University School of Law in New York City in 2011. After graduating in Law magna cum laude at the Luiss “Guido Carli” University of Rome in 2009, he successfully completed a master’s degree in European Private Law at “La Sapienza” the University of Rome in 2010, and in 2011 he graduated from Temple University School of Law (Philadelphia, U.S.A.) with an LL.M. focusing on corporate and business law.

Course duration: It will be a Five-day (25 - 29 September, 2017) course, i.e. 14 hours.
