Justice Ved Prakash Sharma, (Former Judge, High Court of Madhya Pradesh)
Justice Ved Prakash Sharma is a distinguished former Judge of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh and former Chairperson of the M.P. Law Commission, Bhopal. He began his judicial career in the Madhya Pradesh District Judiciary in 1983 and served with distinction until January 2016. From May 2002 to May 2007, he held the position of Director at the Madhya Pradesh State Judicial Academy. During 2009–2010, he served as a Professor at the National Judicial Academy, Bhopal, and later as Registrar General of the Madhya Pradesh High Court from April 2013 to January 2016. In July 2015, he participated in a five-day International Conference on 'Enhancement of Judiciary and Legal Systems Globally' organized by the Supreme Court of Singapore. Following his retirement from the district judiciary, he served as Chairman of the M.P. State Co-operative Tribunal, Bhopal, from 2nd February 2016 to 5th April 2016, and subsequently as Judge of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh (Indore Bench) from 7th April 2016 to 1st January 2018. He later held the position of Chairperson of the M.P. State Law Commission from June 2018 to April 2021, during which he submitted eight significant reports to the Government of Madhya Pradesh, including three reports recommending the repeal of around 1,500 outdated laws and two reports focused on criminal justice reforms. He is the author of two books: Legal Issues: An Anthology (2009) in English and Madhya Pradesh Mein Panchayati Raj (2005) in Hindi. Over the course of his career, he has delivered more than 200 lectures at the National Judicial Academy, Bhopal, the Central Academy for Police Training (CAPT), Bhopal, and various other academic institutions.
