    The Society for Democratic Rights (SDR), New Delhi, and the Georgetown University Law Center, Washington DC is co-hosting the 4th Comparative Constitutional Law discussion on the topic “Recent Trends of the Supreme Court of India and the United States Supreme Court”.

    The esteemed guests for this edition include Chief Justice of India Sanjeev Khanna and Dean William M. Treanor, Dean & Executive Vice President Paul Regis Dean Leadership Chair, Georgetown Law. The guests will compare approaches of the two Supreme Courts in interpreting and securing fundamental rights of the citizens of their respective nations. The global responses of the Indian Supreme Court under the leadership of the country's 51th Chief Justice and other Justices of the apex court, and the role played by the American Supreme Court in its journey will be the core focus of the discussion.

    The inaugural discussion in the series was held in October 2020 on the occasion of 150 years celebrations of Georgetown Law. Previous speakers have included Former CJIs, Dr. Justice  DY Chandrachud, Justice NV Ramana, Justice UU Lalit, and Justices Indu Malhotra (Retd.) and Pratibha M. Singh. 

    The session will be moderated by Vibha Datta Makhija, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India.
