The book 'Mediation Theory to Practice' by Advocate Ms. Iram Majid was launched on 5th September, 2022 at India International Centre, New Delhi. The book was released by Hon'ble Justice Mr. S. Ravindra Bhat (Supreme Court Of India) in the presence of Justice Manmohan (High Court Of Delhi), Justice Mr. Najmi Waziri ((High Court Of Delhi), Senior advocate Mr. Huzefa Ahmadi.
The author Advocate Ms. Iram Majid is the Director of Indian Institute of Arbitration and Mediation. She is also on Mediation Panel of Delhi High Court as well as Executive Director of Asia Pacific Centre for Arbitration and Mediation. She has above 15 years' experience and expertise in the field of arbitration and mediation.
The book aims to serve as a guide for students, professionals and users with theoretical and practical knowledge.
Justice Mr. Bhat said "mediation was rooted in Indian culture" . He emphasised that to mediate effectively, one had to put themselves in the opponent's position. The judge indicated his hope that mediation to be a well-liked option regardless of the parties' financial situation." "Mediation should travel beyond the confines of courts and lawyers," Justice Bhat added.
The Delhi High Court judge Justice Mr. Manmohan said "mediation assisted in bringing conflicts to a conclusion and maintained relationships by encouraging the parties to negotiate a settlement. Mediation is an art and science and mediator is nothing short of a doctor or engineer."
Explaining the costs of litigation, Justice Mr. Najmi Waziri, Judge of the Delhi High Court said, "muqaddamey ki pairhvi karne ke liye chaandi ke haath aur lohey key joote hone chahiye (To do advocacy for an issue, one needs hands of silver and shoes of iron)."
Huzefa Ahmadi, the Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court of India, underscored the importance of initiating mediation at the pre-trial stage, saying, "Wise and sensible people can persuade people to use mediation."
Iram Majid, the author of the book, explained her struggle and in writing the book. The author quoted, "what you seek, is seeking you", she also said that the universe has a soul which conspired to achieve this.
"I have received immense love and respect from the society and I believe we have a moral duty to give back to the society. This book is an answer to that and no better than teacher's day to launch it," Iram Majid said.
