NGT Calls For Status Report On Claim Of Pollluted Pond And Air Pollution In Kadaura Town [Read Order]

The Principal Bench of the National Green Tribunal has directed the Uttar Pradesh State Pollution Control Board (UPSPCB), and district magistrate to furnish a factual and action taken report in one month, in response to a plea filed seeking for restoration of water body called main pond (sadar Bazar) in Kadaura town and provision for access to drinking water.
A bench led by Chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel gave the direction while hearing a plea filed by Pushpendra Kumar. It is claimed that continuous burning of solid plastic waste, garbage cans, electronics waste, glass inside the residential area of town Kadaura that emits poisonous gases causing severe air pollution.
The tribunal said UPPCB will be the nodal agency for compliance and coordination. The applicant may furnish a set of papers to the District Magistrate, Jalaun, Orai, UP and UPPCB and file an affidavit of service within one week. The next hearing of application will be held on April 23.
