The Cell for Studies in Intellectual Property Rights at National Law Institute University, Bhopal in collaboration with School of Law, Western Sydney University, Australia, shall be organising an  International Conference on Intellectual Property Law & Policy from 26- 30th November, 2017.

About the ConferenceÂ
The objective of this Conference is to examine the perennial question - whether IP laws and policies help or hinder the economic and technological advancement of nations? Corollary to this question is what can be done to make the existing IP regimes, domestic and international, fair and equitable. Besides an opportunity to present a research paper, this Conference provides a platform for IP scholars to meet and develop ideas and strategies for supporting IP research, and identify and deliberate on emerging areas of IP law.
Call for Papers
Original and unpublished research papers are invited from academics, researchers, students, lawyers and professionals on the provided theme and subthemes.
Theme of the Conference:Intellectual Property Law and Policy: A Device for Research and Development.
This theme has three subthemes –
- Whether domestic and international laws relating to (i) copyright, (ii) patents, (iii) trademark, (iv) geographical indications of goods, (v) protection of plant varieties and farmers’ rights, (vi) industrial design, (vii) layout design of semiconductor integrated circuits, (viii) trade secret, and (ix) any other areas of IP law (emerging or otherwise), and related laws help or hinder research and development.
- What can be done to make the existing IP regime, i.e., IP law and policy more fair and equitable?
- What are the moral, philosophical, legal, social, and/or ethical consequences of existing laws?
Papers may be contributed on: (i) main theme, (ii) any of the nine areas of first subtheme, (iii) second theme, or (iv) the third theme. The paper must make a new, non-obvious, and useful claim.
