5th Durga Das Basu Essay Writing Competition, 2017

The Constitutional Law Society of the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata (NUJS) is pleased to announce the Fifth Durga Das Basu Essay Competition.

The participants this year can write on ‘any Constitutional Law topic of contemporary importance’. The word limit for the Essay is 4000 words (exclusive of footnotes).

Awards:

1. The winning participant/team will be awarded a Winner’s Certificate and a Cash Prize of Rs. 5,000.


2. The participant/team placed second will be awarded a Runner Up Certificate and a Cash Prize of Rs. 3,000.


3. A Certificate of Merit will be issued to the next 2 participant/teams.

The deadline for submission is 11:59 PM on February 3rd, 2017.

General Rules:

1. This event is open to students (undergraduate/post-graduate) from all colleges in India.


2. There is no registration fee.


3. The formatting specifications are:
   
   
   
   • Font: Time News Roman
   
   
   • Font Size: 12
   
   
   • Spacing: 1.5
   
   
   • Margin: One inch on all sides
   
   
   • Paper size: A4
   
   
   • Words- 4000 (excluding footnotes, kindly avoid using speaking footnotes).
   
   
   • Citations are mandatory following a uniform format.
   
   
   
   


4. Co-authorship (of a maximum of two authors) shall be allowed.

Procedure for Submission

:

• All teams/ participants must send electronic copies of their essays in “.docx” (Microsoft Word) and “.pdf” formats by email to ddbasuessaycompetition@gmail.com by 11:59 PM on February 3^rd, 2017.


• The “subject” of the submission email should clearly mention “Submission for DD Basu Essay Writing Competition.”


• Participants shall also clearly mention their names, phone numbers, addresses and name of their College/University, and course undertaken along with their year of study clearly in the body of the email.
