I Want To Show He (Jaitely) Is A Crook: Jethmalani, Jaitely Warns Of  Claiming ‘Aggravated Damages’

Jaitley asks whether Kejriwal told him to use the word: Senior counsel says yes, but instructing counsel says ‘no’.

The Jethmalini vs Jaitley battle has become more chaotic as the cross-examination continued on Wednesday in Delhi High Court.

Most of the questions revolved around an article written by senior advocate Ram Jethmalani, which appeared in The Indian Express, containing criticism about Union Minister Arun Jaitley.

Ram Jethmalani alleged that the said article was sent to Sunday Guardian, but Jaitley made arrangements to see that it is not published. Most of the questions were disallowed by the court as it found those were ‘irrelevant’.

Jethmalani, at one instance, called Jaitley a ‘crook’, which was objected to by Jaitley and his counsels.

“I wanted to show that this man (Arun Jaitley) is a crook”.

They asked Jethmalani whether he was using the term in his personal capacity or with instructions from the client, to which the senior counsel retorted that it has been used with instructions from Kejriwal.

But at this instance, instructing counsel for Kejriwal intervened and told that court that he had no instruction on the use of this word. Then Jethmalani said he received the instructions in his private meetings with Kejriwal.

Then Jiately said he could seek “aggravated damages’

On an earlier occasion, Jethmalani had said Jaitley had no reputation whatsoever. The veteran senior counsel is appearing for Kejriwal, who has been sued by Jaitley and others, for allegedly making defamatory allegations against his handling of the Delhi District Cricket Administration (DDCA) as “corrupt”. Jaitely had run the DDCA as president for 13 years.
