A lawyer in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district has filed a private complaint in the local Court against Bihar Education Minister Chandrashekhar over his alleged statement that Ramcharitmanas, an epic Hindu religious book, "spreads hatred in the society".
The Complaint has been filed before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Muzaffarpur by a lawyer named Sudhir Kumar Ojha. In his plea, he has sought legal action against Chandrashekhar.
The complaint plea refers to the alleged remarks of RJD MLA made at the 15th convocation ceremony of Nalanda Open University that books like Ramcharitmanas, Manusmriti, and MS Golwalkar’s Bunch of Thoughts held people back for centuries and they spread hatred.
Further, referring to Chandrashekhar’s other alleged statement that it is written in Ramcharitmanas that the lower section of society becomes poisonous if they get educated, the Complaint plea says that such statements were made to intentionally hurt the sentiments of crores of Hindus.
