In a Special Meeting held on January 4, 2020, the General Council of the National Law University, Odisha approved 25% horizontal reservation to domicile students across categories for admission to Undergraduate and Post-graduate programmes.

For claiming reservation in the Undergraduate Programme, a candidate should have passed 12th class or equivalent examination from the state of Odisha and secured at least 60% marks (or its equivalent grade) from any recognized College/University in the state.

Similarly, for claiming reservation in the Postgraduate Programme, a candidate should have passed Undergraduate law programme (B.A.LL.B.,/B.B.A.LL.B.,/LL.B. etc) or equivalent examination and secured at least 50% marks (or its equivalent grade) from any recognized College/University in the state.

Note: The above-mentioned reservation is subject to CLAT score.

The move comes after Higher education department secretary Saswat Mishra urged the University to reserve 25% of seats in its undergraduate courses for students of Odisha.
