Justice Ajay Tewari of Punjab and Haryana High Court has resigned from his office. He was due to retire on April 6, 2022. He is the second seniormost judge of the High court after Chief Justice Ravi Shanker Jha.

Justice Tewari is a third-generation lawyer, he passed LL.B. From P.U. in 1982 and did LL.M. From Punjabi University in 1984. He practiced for 26 Years before being elevated to the bench. His nature of practice was Civil, Criminal Constitutional, Taxation, Labour, Company, Service and his field of specialization was Civil, Service and Constitutional

Recently, he had recused himself from hearing a bunch of pleas challenging the Haryana law (The Haryana State Employment of Local Candidates Act 2020) which provides 75% reservation for local people in the private sector jobs having a monthly salary of less than Rs 30,000.
