A minor explosion took place in the court complex at Rohini in New Delhi today.  The Delhi police said that the explosion took place in a laptop bag.

The incident happened in Court No.102, when proceedings were underway. Soon after the blast, the proceedings were halted. One person who got injured has been admitted in hospital.

As per DCP Pranav Tayal, the explosion happened in a laptop bag, while a court proceeding was underway.

National Security Guards(NSG) team and dog squad reached the Court for inspection.

It may be recalled that in the same court complex in Rohini, a horrific shootout as part of gang rivalry had taken place in September, which left four gangsters dead.  The incident had highlighted the security lapses in the court, on which the Delhi High Court took cognizance. Today's incident has further stressed the need for enhancing the security arrangements in Courts.

The General Secretary of the North Delhi Lawyer's Association, advocate Vineet Jindal, issued a press statement stating the following:

"Security lapse in district courts is a great concern for litigants and advocates. Delhi High Court is also taking note upon the security lapse and has issued directions to the Delhi police, but the security issue is still the same. Delhi's District Courts must have a delegated security unit with updated gadgets, then only we can ensure the security of Delhi's district courts. Judge advocates and litigants who visit Courts to get justice must have a secure environment in the Court. Nowadays, litigants, advocates and even judges are scared due to the recent incident in district courts in Delhi."
