The Bombay High Court on Monday notified that Advocates appearing for physical hearing which began on Monday itself, will be exempted from wearing gowns. However, Advocates must wear a black coat and white band.

On August 25, the Registrar (Judicial) VR Kachare had notified a special procedure for physical hearing of criminal appeals only from August 31, 2020 to September 15, 2020 for the principal bench in Mumbai, the bench at Nagpur and Aurangabad and the High Court of Bombay at Goa.

During the physical hearing, a limited number of Advocates are allowed to enter the Courtroom. Wearing a mask is compulsory and social distancing is to be observed. Moreover, until the matter is called out, Advocates wait in the waiting room and in case one of the Advocates/party is not willing for physical hearing, then that Advocate/party can be heard through video conference.
