DNLU Vice-Chancellor Elected As President Of The Indian Society Of International Law (ISIL)
The Vice Chancellor of Dharmashastra National Law University Jabalpur, Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha has been elected as President of The Indian Society of International Law (ISIL), New Delhi with huge margin of votes. This prestigious appointment reflects Prof. Sinha's exceptional contributions to the field of international law and legal education.
Prof. Sinha previously served the ISIL as Vice President. His election as President marks a new chapter in his journey, characterized by dedication to promoting the study and application of international law in India and beyond.
Founded in 1959, through the vision of Late V.K. Krishna Menon, ISIL is a premier institution committed to advancing international law. The Society fosters research, interpretation, and application of international law, with a particular focus on India's role on the global stage. ISIL's objectives include promoting nationwide awareness, comparative studies, and scholarly research in international law.
Prof. Sinha brings a wealth of experience and academic distinction to his new role. In addition to his leadership at DNLU, he has served as the Director of the Indian Law Institute and as a Professor of Law at the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences. He holds a Doctorate in International Law from Jawaharlal Nehru University, an LL.M. from the University of Nottingham, and an LL.B. from the University of Delhi.
Prof. Sinha has published extensively in renowned national and international journals on subjects including international law, human rights, constitutional law, and humanitarian law. He has also delivered lectures at leading academic and governmental institutions, including law schools in India and abroad, UGC Academic Staff Colleges, the ICRC, the Ministry of External Affairs, and the Ministry of Environment and Forests. As an invited and visiting professor, he has shared his expertise at several prestigious European universities.
He also hold various awards to his credit, including a scholarship from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada, in 2009, the Great Indian Teacher's Award at the LEAD Global Conclave 2021, and recognition as a Notable Bar Leader by the Bar Association of India in 2019. Additionally, he has served as Secretary of the All-India Law Teachers Congress (AILTC) on multiple occasions.
