The Legal Aid Clinic at Institute of Law Nirma University aspires to contribute to the legal literacy of needy and poor through its awareness initiatives. To further this aim, a legal awareness camp was organised at Jamiyatpura village, Gandhinagar, on Sunday by members of Legal Aid Clinic.
A skit was performed by students to explain several rights available to labourers and women under various Indian laws to around 30 residential families of the village on the premises of a primary school. They were also encouraged to approach the consultation panel of the legal aid committee for their legal queries and issues.
Raj Mehta, faculty coordinator, Legal Aid Clinic, ILNU, guided and supervised the initiative taken by the students and also advised the villagers to be more vigilant about fundamental rights and duties. The Legal Aid Clinic, in its official statement, thanked volunteers and Prof Purvi Pokhariyal, director ILNU, for staging such initiatives regularly.
