MNLU Mumbai: National Corporate Client Counselling Competition [Register By 31st January]

MNLU- The State of Maharashtra realizing the importance of quality legal education and the need for well-trained law graduates to the Bar, Bench, and profession took a very bold decision by creating three National Law Universities in the State of Maharashtra at Mumbai, Nagpur, and Aurangabad.

The Centre for Training and Research of Commercial Regulations (CTRCR) focuses on the dissemination of the knowledge related to Corporate and Commercial Law prevailing in domestic as well as international arenas and covers the trends related to it. It works to bring together the experts in these areas of law to stimulate research and debate in Corporate and Commercial Laws and practice and to strengthen cooperation with other academic centers, international organizations, the legal profession, and fraternity.

The CTRCR at MNLU Mumbai has announced the first edition of the MNLU-M National Corporate Client Counselling Competition for students to engage with challenging, real-world corporate law issues. This unique platform will test participants' skills in handling a complex corporate dispute scenario, requiring adept client management, legal interpretation, and strategic counselling.

Eligibility

This competition is open to all law students enrolled in either a 5-year integrated law program or a 3-year LLB program. Students who have graduated within the last six months are also eligible to participate.

Timeline

• Provisional Registrations Open: 10th December, 2024
• Provisional Registrations Close: 15th January, 2025
• Final Registrations Close: 31st January, 2025
• Documents Release: 1st February, 2025
• Preliminary Rounds (Online): 21st -23rd February, 2025
• Advanced Rounds (Offline): 12th -14th April, 2025

Registration details

• Institutional teams as well as Individual Open (Non-University) teams can register for the competition by 15th January 2025.
• The expected team composition shall comprise 2 counsels. Selected students from MNLU Mumbai will role-play as clients in all rounds.
• The registration fee for the offline rounds (advanced rounds) is inclusive of accommodation that shall be provided by the Organising Committee. Accommodation is not optional.
• Providing team/participant details for the provisional registration form is not mandatory. The said details are to be submitted during the final registration.
• An email confirming your slot will be sent by the Organising Committee, only after which the formalities for the Final Registration shall be completed.

Competition Structure

Preliminary Rounds (online):

• Each team will participate in 2 rounds, each based on a different proposition.
• One set of rounds will be conducted per day
• The top 4 teams out of 32 will be selected on the basis of their cumulative score across the 2 rounds.

Advanced Rounds (Offline):

• The top 4 teams will first take part in the semi-final round.
• The top 2 teams based on scores will advance to the final rounds and will be judged by a 6-person bench, with the team scoring higher winning the competition.

• Best Upcoming team: Certificate, Internship and a Cash Prize of Rs. 10,000/-
