As Delhi gears up for another Ola/Uber strike on Tuesday, the Delhi High Court did its bit to provide the city’s denizens with some relief.

Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw permanently restrained two taxi drivers’ unions from interfering in any services offered by taxi aggregators Ola and Uber in NCR.

The two unions - Sarvodaya Driver Association and Rajdhani Tourist Driver Union - are connected to the strike in February that massively disrupted taxi services in the city.

Justice Endlaw seems to have no mercy for the unions that called for strike. Even in the last hearing, he had directed Ola and Uber taxi drivers on strike to settle their disputes through mediation and directed them to end their agitation after the two taxi unions told the court that they have not reached a settlement with the companies.

An earlier order that restrained the drivers’ unions from staging any protest within 500 metres from the office premises of Ola and Uber in the future.

They had sought a revision of their pay, demanding an increase in fare from the current ₹6/km and doing away with the 25 per cent commission the companies charge on every ride.

The drivers also wanted Ola and Uber to discontinue with their sharing rides or ride pools, claiming these were less lucrative for them.

The parent compa y of Ola and Uber - ANI Technologies, which has invested in Ola and US-based Uber Technology Inc's Indian subsidiary Uber India, moved Delhi High Court against the two abovementioned taxi unions for allegedly disrupting their services.
