The Supreme Court on Thursday (January 15) transferred to the Delhi High Court the petitions filed in other High Courts challenging the results of the Common Law Admission Test-2025 (CLAT-2025) held in December 2024 for admissions to undergraduate and post-graduate law courses in various National Law Universities.

A bench comprising Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna Justice PV Sanjay Kumar and Justice KV Viswanathan passed the order in a transfer petition filed by the Consortium of National Law Universities.

The bench ordered that the records be transferred from other High Courts to the Delhi High Court within 7 days.

"Relating to CLAT PG, UG matters be transferred to DB of Delhi HC where LPA 1250/ 2024 1251/2024. The records are to be transferred expeditiously within 7 days."

"We are also inclined to pass an omnibus order that incase any other High Court or in any other matter, the respondent/ Consortium of Universities are entitled to file a copy of this order before the HC for transfer of case to Delhi High Court"

Petitions are at present pending in the High Courts of Delhi, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Bombay, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab & Haryana against the results of the CLAT-2025 test held in December 2024.

Previsouly, the Supreme Court had expressed inclination to transfer the matters to the Punjab and Haryana High Court as the first petition was filed there.

In December 2024, a single judge of the Delhi High Court found that two answers of the CLAT-UG 2025 exam were wrong and asked the Consortium to revise the results of the petitioners. When the Consortium appealed against the single bench's decision, the division bench remarked that they prima facie did not find any error in the single bench's decision.
