Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Appointment Of 9 Advocates As Bombay High Court Judges

    The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of following advocates as the Judges of the Bombay High Court.

    (i) Ms Nivedita Prakash Mehta,

    (ii) Shri Prafulla Surendrakumar Khubalkar,

    (iii) Shri Ashwin Damodar Bhobe,

    (iv) Shri Rohit Wasudeo Joshi, and

    (v) Shri Advait Mahendra Sethna

    (vi) Shri Rajesh Sudhakar Datar,

    (vii) Shri Sachin Shivajirao Deshmukh,

    (viii) Shri Gautam Ashwin Ankhad, and

    (ix) Shri Mahendra Madhavrao Nerlikar.

    The Collegium passed two resolutions recommending their appointments. The Bombay High Court Collegium recommended the elevation of the first five advocates on 19 January 2024. The remaining four names were recommended by the High Court Collegium on 19 April 2024.

    The Bombay High Court at present has 28 vacancies out of the sanction strength of 94 judges.
