Singhvi : Your lordships can even direct interim disqualification.

    • 20 July 2022 6:06 AM GMT

Singhvi : Speaker is merrily sitting on our disqualification complaints and not even issued notice. And when they file, the Speaker immediately issues notice with promptitude.

    • 20 July 2022 6:05 AM GMT

Singhvi : We are beseeching your lordships to uphold a very very important moral, ethical, legal and constitutional aspect.

    • 20 July 2022 6:04 AM GMT

Singhvi : Your lordships have power to reach back in time and reverse.

    • 20 July 2022 6:02 AM GMT

Singhvi : The condition in tenth schedule is that not only you should have 2/3rds going but also the 2/3rd should merge with another party. It is common ground that my friends have not merged with another party. They are not calling themselves BJP.'

Singhvi : Merger is the only defence. It is common ground that you have not merged. Yet you are not disqualified. Yet you can vote in a floor test and forma. contrived majority.

    • 20 July 2022 6:01 AM GMT

Singhvi : We consider Governors to be holy cows and Speakers as partisan players. That is a different story.

Singvhi : Either you cannot stop the Speaker or you cannot hold the floor test. The entire majority is a contrived majority. If 4 of us are disqualified here, floor test is pool and disqualified person cannot be part of the pool

Singhvi : Dy Speaker records a finding that I am not taking it on record as no MLAs came before him. Why it was done? To misue a sentence, which is totally inapplciable here, in the Nabam Rebia case. Nabam Rebia is for a genuine resolution against Speaker.

Singhvi : Interstingly, the affidavit of the Secretary shows the Dy Speaker rejected the resolution. See now, I am merrily defecting, but you as a Speaker should not decide.

    • 20 July 2022 6:00 AM GMT

Sibal : Not for a single day an illegitimate government should stay as per Rana decision.

Dr AM Singhvi for Uddhav Camp : The so-called the departing faction, one day before you proceed to Gauahti sent a letter to the then Dy Speaker seeking his removal and sent from an unauthorized email followed by a letter by an advocate.

Sibal : Your lordships can stay the Speaker's disqualification. But how can the proceedings be stayed? It can't be as per Kihoto Hollohan.

Sibal : Now they say they will go to Election Commission, as if decision of ECI has retrospective effect. This is a mockery of law.

Sibal : Every day's delay will play havoc with democractic decisions.

    • 20 July 2022 5:59 AM GMT

Sibal : These are all part of record, these will decide if they have incurred disqualification or not. Records of assembly should be called for. Under which provision of tenth schedule they are protected? None.

Sibal : What happens to the verdict of the people? The schedule that has been used to prevent defection has been used to instigate defection. In other words, the tenth schedule has been turned topsy-turvy.
