SCAORA Resolves To Abstain From Appearing in Supreme Court Till April 4

In view of the Delhi government notification dated 22.03.2020 vide which there has been a total lock down in Delhi till 31.03.2020 because of the pandemic Corona virus outbreak the Supreme Court Advocate-On-Record Association has resolved to abstain appearing in the Supreme Court till 04/04/2020.
The Executive Committee of Supreme Court Bar Association earlier passed a resolution of Saturday urging the SC to declare vacation for four weeks from March 23.
The Association also suggested to adjust the lost dates in the forthcoming summer vacation.
Taking note of the outbreak of Coronavirus, the Supreme Court has been following restricted functioning since March 16, hearing only urgent matters. The Court has also adopted several precautionary measures to avoid overcrowding and enforce physical distancing between persons within court premises.

Dear Members,
The executive committee of SCAORA has passed the following Resolution dt. 22.03.2020 vide circulation:
RESOLUTION
That, considering the outbreak of the pandemic Corona virus (Covid-19) and in view of the Delhi government notification dated 22.03.2020 vide which there has been a total lock down in Delhi till 31.03.2020 and with a view to safeguard and protect the Hon'ble Court, the members of the Bar, office staff and also the registry staff, it is resolved that the members of SCAORA will not be appearing in the Hon'ble Court till 04/04/2020. The borders have been shut down and members commuting from Gurugram, Ghaziabad and Noida will not be able to reach the Hon'ble Court. Further public transport like Delhi Metro have also been shut down in the best interests of the citizens.
In view of the aforesaid circumstances and in furtherance to our previous resolution dated 21.03.2020 an earnest appeal is further made to the Hon'ble CJI on behalf of SCAORA to completely close down the premises of the Hon'ble Supreme Court in the best interests of the health of the Bar and Bench.
