[LIVE UPDATES] SC Hearing Plea Against Sudarshan TV's "UPSC Jihad" Show

Farasat says that clear innuendoes which vilify muslims in the show with the tagline "UPSC Jihad" are used.

"Anti-semitism under hate speech law - classic examples ....and are prohibited across all jurisdictions"

Farasat: Each of the statements which are made in the show #bindasbol are a violation of the program code. 

Farasat: Tenor, innuendoes of the show point to the fact that they are intending to show that the Muslims are taking over the bureaucracy and are a threat to the nation.

Farasat now reads transcripts from SureshChavhanke's show.

Farasat: Sudarshan TV has said that they expect to continue in the same way, your lordship must keep the legal observation in mind that has been stipulated.

Farasat: I have done a time-wise analysis of the show by SudarshanNewsTV

.Your lordships will have to look into the content and formulate whether it is permissible or not.

Farasat: There is abdication of govt responsibility.

If there is affirmative responsibility on state to ensure that Articles 14 and 21 rights of a citizen are there and they are abdicated, if yes, will the SC silently watch?

Jain: My lords may allow me to satisfy about the 4 episodes having complied with the program code.

Justice Chandrachud: No counsel in civilised jurisdiction has said that all 700 pages need to be read out. Thats never been a line of precedent of civilised jurisprudence.

Jain: I want to satisfy My Lords that SudarshanNewsTV complied with the program code.

Justice Chandrachud: Allowed that already. We asked you to file an affidavit to see whether your client was willing to look forward and perhaps look forward to change the tenor of the program.
