NLU Delhi organizes a colloquium to celebrate Prof M.P. Singh’s 75 years of Journey "The Journey of Indian Constitution: We the People and Free Markets”

To celebrate 75 years of journey of Professor (Dr.) M.P Singh , a foremost constitutional law scholar the National Law University Delhi organized a one day Colloquium on the theme “The Journey of Indian Constitution: We the People and Free Markets” on Saturday 19th September 2015. Professor M.P. Singh is currently the Chair Professor at the Centre for Comparative Law at NLU Delhi
The colloquium was formulated and given shape by his former students from India and abroad among whom Hon’ble Mr. Justice A.K. Sikri, Judge, Supreme Court of India gave the key note address and also presented a memento to Professor M.P. Singh. The Welcome address was delivered by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of NLU Delhi, Professor (Dr.) Ranbir Singh.
The theme of the Colloquium solicit to capture various facets of the journey of Indian Constitution in relation to ‘We, the people’ and free market economy of which the former signifies the constant character of Indian polity while the latter represents the economic policies since the early 1990s in the changing and organic nature of constitutional governance in the country.
Scholars from different academic and research institutions attended the event. The Presenters, who were all Professor M.P. Singh’s former students, discussed the issues in their various and varying dimensions. The event was concluded with the dinner speech by Professor C. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Jindal Global University
