The Telangana High Court Joint Action Committee has submitted a representation before the Advocate General for the State requesting him not to consider non-Telangana Advocates for the posts of government pleaders, standing counsels, and public prosecutor.
The representation was submitted on 3rd February, shortly after the passing of GO 66 of 2024, by way of which, 5 advocates were selected for the posts of Special Government Pleaders.
It was submitted in the representation that 4 out of 5 Special government pleaders were non-residents of the State of Telangana. Additionally, it was also mentioned that the advocate appointed to the post of Public Prosecutor was a native of Guntur District which falls in the State of Andhra Pradesh.
The Joint Action Committee stated that if advocates from different states were being appointed to represent the Government in Telangana, it would defeat the purpose of obtaining separate High Courts and States.
“The Advocates Association already passed the resolution to reject the names of P. Sundari, Nazeeb Khan, who belongs AP., the recent past Telangana advocates also made the complaint to the Chief Justice of India to reject the name of Moinuddin G.M., Advocate who belongs to Guntur Dist., the entire Telangana Advocates Joint Action Committee requesting the Advocate General to remove the names of Swaroop Oorilla from Krishna Dist., Siddivardhan from Chittoor Dist., Son of High Court Judge., Ramakrishna Mallojhala from Nellore,” the representation read.
