The Bihar Federation of Women Lawyers, in collaboration with Medanta Hospital, Patna, and the Patna High Court, organized the first-ever Free Health Check-up and Health Awareness Camp for the legal fraternity on September 20, 2024. The camp marked a historic moment, being the first in the 100-year history of the High Court, offering critical health services to nearly 500 advocates and court staff on its opening day.

The camp was inaugurated by Justice Mohit Kumar Shah, Advocate General Mr. P.K. Shahi, Additional Solicitor General Dr. K.N. Singh, Mr. Ramakant Sharma, Chairman of the State Bar Council, and Dr. Ravi Shankar Singh, Director of Medanta, Patna. During the event, the dignitaries emphasized the importance of health care for legal professionals, who often neglect their health due to demanding work schedules.

A wide range of medical services was provided, including blood pressure monitoring, blood sugar testing, ECG, eye check-ups, and general health examinations. Medanta Hospital's expert team ensured accurate testing and gave detailed consultations for those requiring further medical attention.

Justice Mohit Shah praised the initiative, calling it “a much-needed step towards fostering a culture of wellness among advocates and court staff.”

Advocate General Mr. P.K. Shahi highlighted the often-overlooked aspect of health in the legal profession, stating that, “Health is often overlooked by professionals in our field, but it is the foundation upon which we build our careers and serve society. Such initiatives should become a regular feature to ensure the well-being of those who are the backbone of our justice system.”

Dr. Ravi Shankar Singh, Director of Medanta, expressed his hospital's commitment to continuing such efforts in collaboration with the legal community, stating that “accessible, quality healthcare is a right that all professionals should have, regardless of their field.”

Dr. Ravi Shankar Singh reaffirmed Medanta Hospital's commitment to supporting similar initiatives in the future, stating that “accessible, quality healthcare is a right that all professionals should have, regardless of their field.”

Advocate Shama Sinha, Secretary of the Bihar Federation of Women Lawyers, praised the camp as a key moment in promoting health awareness within the legal community, noting that advocates often lead stressful lives with little time for self-care.

She expressed appreciation for the participation and support from the legal fraternity, particularly acknowledging Advocate Anuradha Singh, Treasurer of the Bihar Federation of Women Lawyers, for her organisational efforts, and the young Lady advocates of the Patna High Court for their role in ensuring the camp's success.

The camp's success on its first day generated anticipation for an even larger turnout on September 21, 2024, with more advocates and court staff expected to benefit from the initiative.
