The Bihar State Legal Services Authority (BSLSA) conducted the inaugural training and sensitization program on February 17, 2024 for Nodal Officers of District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) in Bihar.

This initiative stems from directives issued by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) in 2018, whereby the State of Bihar designated Senior Deputy Collectors, responsible for the Legal Section in Districts, as Nodal Officers. The primary objective is to ensure effective coordination between DLSAs and District Administration in accordance with the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987.

Under the esteemed guidance of Justice K. Vinod Chandran, Chief Justice of the Patna High Court and Patron-in-Chief of BSLSA, concerted efforts are being made to uphold the tenets of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, and comply with the directives of the Supreme Court of India and the Patna High Court.

The one-day training program aimed to equip Nodal Officers with essential knowledge and skills pertinent to their role. Facilitated by esteemed resource persons including Sh. S.K. Verma, Retd. District and Sessions Judge, Ms. Shilpee Soniraj, Member Secretary, BSLSA, and Ms. Dhriti Jasleen Sharma, Joint Secretary, BSLSA, the sessions covered various critical topics. These included the Mediation Act of 2023, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Mechanism and its benefits, Legal Services Authorities Act of 1987, District Legal Services Manual of 2023, National Lok Adalats, Bihar State Legal Services Authority Regulations of 1998, Bihar Victim Compensation Scheme of 2014 (amended to date), and Schemes of NALSA and BSLSA's SITARA of 2023.

Conducted in an interactive format, the sessions encouraged active participation and fostered discussions on practical challenges faced in the field. Valuable suggestions were exchanged, enhancing the efficacy of the training program.

The event culminated with the distribution of certificates to the participants, acknowledging their commitment to the cause. Additionally, participants received kits containing products from the newly launched brand, Mukti.

BSLSA initiated collaboration with the Inspectorate of Prisons & Correctional Services, Government of Bihar, to provide vocational and skill development training for jail inmates. Consequently, the Mukti brand was introduced to market products crafted by inmates, promoting rehabilitation and empowerment within the correctional system.
