Absconding Life Convict Allegedly Operating Social Media: Allahabad High Court Asks State To Furnish Details Of The Efforts Being Made To Nab Him

The Allahabad High Court on Monday (02nd October) asked the State Government to furnish complete details relating to the efforts being made by the State to ensure the arrest of an Absconding Life Convict, Badan Singh Baddo.
The Bench of Chief Justice Govind Mathur and Justice Siddhartha Varma further directed that such details are required to be placed on record by way of filing of a personal affidavit by the Principal Secretary to the Government of Uttar Pradesh, Department of Home Affairs.
It was further alleged that no efforts were made to arrest him. The Petitioner also placed certain documents on record to substantiate the fact that the convict is regularly operating his social media pages including the Facebook account.
It was also stated by the Petitioner that the absconder is having political connections and only because of that no action was being taken against him.
On the other hand, the Standing Counsel stated before the Court that a Special Task Force has already been constituted to arrest the absconding convict Badan Singh Baddo.
Court's order
"Having considered all facts of the case, we deem it appropriate to have complete details relating to the efforts made by the State to ensure the arrest of the convicted absconder. Such details are required to be placed on record by way of filing of a personal affidavit by the Principal Secretary to the Government of Uttar Pradesh, Department of Home Affairs."
