National Human Rights Commission Summer Internship Program

The National Human Rights Commission of India has been mandated to promote human rights literacy and awareness. It was established with a view to spread awareness among the University students about the need for protection and promotion of Human Rights. The Commission has been regularly Conducting ‘Summer and Winter Internship Programs ‘since 1988 and 2000 respectively.
The proposed intake for the Summer Internship Program (SIP) is about 50 students.
Duration: Duration of the internship will be 30 days from June 2nd to July 1st.
Stipend: Interns outside Delhi will be allowed second class train tickets from New Delhi and back. Interns other than Delhi(NCR) will be paid 8000 Rs and students from Delhi(NCR) will be provided with a stipend of 4000 R s.
Facilities to Interns:
- Interns will be given a bag/kit containing NHRC reading materials and intern badges.
- Library services will be provided.
- Computer with internet facilities will be provided.
Apart from this, an amount of 15000 R s. will be distributed among the interns placed in 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in the order of their merit.
Guidelines and Eligibility: Students pursuing 5 year Integrated Law Course, 3 years Law Course, LLM Course and students pursuing MA in any discipline of Social Sciences from a UGC Recognized Universities having 65% marks in Class XII are eligible to apply.Attested photocopies of mark-sheets for each and every year / semester are to be submitted for all the preceding years from Class XII onwards to be to be able to calculate the merit on the basis of which candidates will be selected, failing which the application will be liable to be rejected. A 500 word handwritten write up on the topic ‘Reason for joining as an Intern in NHRC’ is also required to be submitted along with the application, this also being the basis of selection. Students who have previously done the regular one month internship (Summer / Winter) in NHRC are not eligible to apply.
The last date for the submission the applications is 22nd April. Applicants are required to send the applications by speed post/ courier/ by-hand super scribed on the envelope.The ‘Application Form’ along with an ‘Undertaking’ has to be submitted.The application for SIP 2014 should be duly signed and sealed by the Head of the Department (HOD). Applications submitted otherwise will not be accepted.

Certificates will be issued on the basis of performance on the following criteria:
Attendance, Punctuality, Discipline, Participation in Class during sessions, State Presentation, Project Presentation & Project Report, Debate and Book Review.
