The Madhya Pradesh High Court’s administration has warned of disciplinary action against judicial officers of subordinate judiciary if they are found indulge in sharing any vulgar, obscene videos, photographs, etc. on social networking sites such as Facebook, WhatsApp, etc.
The administration has taken note of the fact that some judicial officers “indulge in posting of objectionable, unwanted and obscene material on WhatsApp groups”.
The high court administration has issued a directive to the district and sessions judges across the state in this regard.
The administration has requested the district and sessions judges to direct all subordinate judicial officers working under their control and supervision “to maintain decency and decorum as and when they appear in the public so as to maintain a sober, seasoned and dignified persona”.
“If any judicial officer is found indulging in doing such acts, which are unbecoming of a judicial officer, the same would be viewed seriously and stern disciplinary action would be taken against them,” the memo said.
MP HC principal registrar (vigilance) Satyendra Kumar Singh has issued the letter to the district and sessions judges citing reference of a circular issued on 19/10/2016 in this regard.
This act of such judicial officers “is not only disreputing the image of the judiciary as whole, but is also maligning the image of the individual judge indulged in sharing such posts/material”, the memo said.
Such practice is prevalent, despite issuance of the circular on October 19, 2016.
