    Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law celebrated World Sickle Cell Disease Awareness Day on 19th June by organising an informative lecture. The event was organised under the guidance of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. (DR) Jai S. Singh, and Prof. (Dr.) Anand Pawar, Registrar. On this occasion the, lecture was delivered by Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Gill on the theme of "Hope Through Progress: Advancing Sickle Cell Care Globally. She discussed the symptoms, the cause of disease and the solution to this problem in her discussion. She also made all the participants aware about how to diagnose the problem in children at the age of infancy. In the interactive session the employees discussed their questions with the Expert. Dr. Gill stressed upon the fact Sickle cell is an inherited disease caused by a defect in a gene. A person will be born with sickle cell disease only if two genes are inherited; one from the mother and one from the father. A person who inherits just one gene is healthy and said to be a "carrier" of the disease.The informative material about the disease and it's prevention was circulated to all the students.The coordinator of this event were Dr. Abhinandan Bassi and Dr. Sangeeta Taak, Assistant Professors of Law, RGNUL.
