MNLU Nagpur Holds Its First Convocation Ceremony

The First Convocation Ceremony of the Maharashtra National Law University was held on the University 11th February, 2023. The Ceremony was graced by the Chief Justice Of India, Justice D. Y. Chandrachud, Justice Sharad A. Bobde, Former Chief Justice of India and the Founder Chancellor of the University, Justice Bhushan R. Gavai, Judge, Supreme Court of India and Chancellor of the University, Justice Sanjay V. Gangapurwala, Acting Chief Justice, Bombay High Court and the Pro-Chancellor of the University, Justice Sunil B. Shukre, Administrative Judge, High Court of Bombay, Bench at Nagpur, Justice A.S. Chandurkar, Judge, High Court of Bombay, Bench at Nagpur, Justice Anil S. Kilor, Judge, High Court of Bombay, Bench at Nagpur, Dr Vijender Kumar, Vice Chancellor of the University and Dr. Ashish J. Dixit, Registrar.
The event was attended by High Court Judges, Esteemed Dignitaries, Graduating Students, Faculty Members, Media persons as well as Parents and Family members of graduating students.
The University conferred 220 degrees including 158 undergraduate degrees B.A.LL.B.(Hons) Batch 2016 & 2017, 56 LLM One Year Post Graduate Degree Courses of Batches 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 & 2020 and 6 PhD degrees. In total 28 gold medals were awarded to the graduating students.
The University started its journey in the year 2016 with 60 students in the B.A.LL.B.(Hons) and 10 students in the LL.M. The university currently offers B.A.LL.B (Hons), B.A.LL.B (Hons in Adjudication and Justicing), B.B.A.LL.B(Hons), LL.M and PhD. In 2020, the first batch of B.A.LL.B (Hons in Adjudication and Justicing) was inducted with the vision to train students for the entry level of Judicial Services. The students of this course in the last semester will be working as Judicial Clerks in their apprenticeship. Last year, The University moved to its permanent campus at Waranga which is on the verge of completion of Phase I. The new campus boasts of State-of-the-Art facilities with student-centric academic and non-academic facilities and a barrier-free architectural design. The University will be the first campus in India to have a Third Gender Hostel.
