DNLU: Two-Day Interdisciplinary International Conference On Law, Economics & Artificial Intelligence

    The Centre for Law and Economics (CLE), Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU), in collaboration with the Centre for Trade and Investment Law (CTIL), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, successfully concluded its two-day international conference on Law, Economics & Artificial Intelligence. Held on October 5th and 6th, 2024, at IIITDM Jabalpur and DNLU Jabalpur respectively, the conference brought together renowned scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and industry leaders to discuss the convergence of law, economics, and AI and its impact on various sectors.

    The conference served as a vital platform for interdisciplinary discussions on how AI can be integrated into sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, finance, and the judiciary. The attendees delved into the legal and economic frameworks necessary for addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by AI's growing influence, particularly in fields like precision farming, personalized medicine, and financial regulation. The conference attracted over 250 participants from across the country, highlighting its significance as a platform for scholarly discussion on the intersection of law, economics and AI.

    The Valedictory Ceremony was attended by the Chief Guest, Justice Vivek Agarwal, Judge High Court of Madhya Pradesh. In his valedictory address, Justice Agarwal spoke about the rapid technological advancements shaping today's world, emphasizing the role of technology in eradicating poverty and reducing human error. Justice Agarwal also praised and congratulated the organizers and panel members for their dedication and valuable contributions.


    The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Manoj Kumar Sinha, and Guest of Honour, Prof. Rajesh Kumar Verma, Vice-Chancellor of RDVV, acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the organizers and commended the contributions of the student members of the Centre.

    The edited publication of Centre for Law and Economics, namely 'Evolving Dimensions of Law and Economics', published by Satyam Publications and edited by Prof. Dr. Manoj Kumar Sinha, Dr. Isha Wadhwa and Mr. Kushal Paliwalwas was also released.

    Following this, the Best Paper Presentation Awards were announced; the winners were Ms. Garima Panwar, Assistant Professor, HNLU Raipur, Ms. Sharmila Devi, Academician SLS, Mr. Anshu Malik, Student MNLU.

    The conference featured an impressive lineup of experts and speakers, including Dr. Vivek Chandra, General Manager and Head IT, MPPKVVCL, Jabalpur; Prof. (Dr.) Ranita Nagar, Professor of Economics, GNLU, Gandhinagar; Dr. Malabika Pal, Associate Professor at Miranda House, Delhi University; Dr. Tilottama Raychaudhuri, Associate Professor at NUJS Kolkata; and Dr. Gargi Chakrabarti, WIPO Tutor and Associate Professor of Law at DNLU, Jabalpur, Dr. Srinivas Yanamandra, Group head - Regulatory Affairs & Policy Paytm, Mr. Harendra Singh, Chief Executive Officer, Harvisio Legal AI Solutions Pvt. Ltd, Adv. Kushal Kumar, Erudite Legal Law Firm, New Delhi, Mr. Parv Kaushik, Associate at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co, Adv. Akshay Khandelwal, High Court of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Vandana Tiwari, Associate Professor, Gyan Ganga College of Excellence, Jabalpur, Dr. Seema Shrivastava, Assistant Professor of Economics NLIU, Bhopal and Dr. Ashit Shrivasatava, Assistant Professor of Law, DNLU, Jabalpur. The moderator for the session was Dr. Jalaj Goantiya, Assistant Professor. The discussions covered AI's potential in sectors like healthcare, education, financial regulation, and trade law, with a particular emphasis on its economic and legal implications.

    In addition to the keynote speakers, the conference sessions were chaired by esteemed academics, including Dr. Chitra Sarupriya from NLU Jodhpur, Ms. Ruchira Chaturvedi, Assistant Professor of Law at DNLU Jabalpur, and Dr. Saakshi Jha, Assistant Professor at IIM Ranchi.
