MNLU Mumbai: LL.M (Executive) programme For The Academic Year 2024-25

Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai, established under the Maharashtra National Law University Act VI of 2014 is one of the premier National Law Universities in India. The Act envisaged to establish National Law University in Maharashtra to impart advanced legal education and promote society oriented research in legal studies for the advancement of societal life of the people in the country. The prime goal of the University is to disseminate advanced legal knowledge and processes of law amongstthe students and impart to them the skills of advocacy, legal services, and law reformsand make them aware and capable of utilising these instruments for social transformation and development.

MNLU Mumbai believes in the values enshrined in the Indian Constitution viz. Justice, Liberty, Equality, Fraternity, Secularism, Humanism etc. and makes all out efforts to inculcate them in its students, staff, and others to make this institution not only center of legal knowledge but also an inclusive center of humanity.

MNLU Mumbai has floated LL.M. Programme for Executives a one year program and invites application for admission. LL.M. Programme for Executive is unique and tailored to meet the needs and expectations law professionals who want to upgrade their knowledgebut for personal or professional reasons, are unable to take a rigorous regular residential LL.M. program. Programme and Courses are devised to benefit and advance careersof law professionals.

Eligibility

• An LL.B Degree (3 years or 5 years) or an equivalent examination with a minimum of Fifty percent (50%) of marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI categories and Forty-Five percent (45%) of marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.
• Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in April/May 2024 are also eligible to apply.
• No upper age limit is prescribed for appearing in Entrance Exam 2024.
• One who is in service or had professional experience will benefit from the said programme.
• Candidate shall have to pass Entrance Exam scheduled in 7th July 2024.

Mode Of Conduct

• The LL.M. Programme for Executives will be conducted throughclassroom teaching.
• Classes will be conducted on Saturdays, Sundays,Public Holidays.
• The aim is to (a) impart Specialized Legal Training in functioning of law, compliances, Practices, Procedures etc. (b) provide students with multidisciplinary exposures to various laws. The lectures shall be delivered by qualified and experienced faculty. The Programme is helpful to those preparing for competitive exams like JMFC, Public Service Commission's etc. This degree may be considered for the purposes of internal growth by respective organizations as per their internal policies. Besides providingprospect for Continuing Legal Education the programme shall also give an opportunity to build a network of legal fraternity. Students of the programme shall be benefitted with University's Library which is enriched by Online and Offlinecontent.

Total No. Of Seats

The total numbers of seats are 60. However, the University reserves the right to alter the number of seats for the programmein a given academic year without prior notice.

Admissions Criteria

Candidates for admission will be selected on the basis of Entrance Test conducted by MNLU Mumbai scheduled in 7th July 2024. This entrance exam will be conducted in the campus of MNLU Mumbai only. The merit cut-offlist will accordingly be prepared for admission. Reservation is as per Maharashtra Government Rules.

Course Outline

The LL.M. Programme for Executives Curriculum will have the following components: The Compulsory Coursesconsisting of the 3 Papers and Dissertation. Elective Courses consistof 6 papers.

Credits

The Programme will be of Twenty-Four (24) Credits comprising of: Four mandatory papers of (3) credits & each Six Elective papers of (2) credits each.

Duration

The programme will be for a period of one academic year. The academic year will run from August 2024 to July 2025. The intense academic activity during each semester will be spread across 18 weeks and it shall include teaching, projects, assignments, seminars etc

Classes Will BE Conducted On Saturday/ Sunday/ Public Holidays. Mode Of Conduct Of Classes Shall Be Offline.

Attendance

The LL.M. Programme for Executives will be conducted through class room teaching. Attendance in the contact classes is an important component of the programme. It is expected that students shall attend the scheduled contact classes.

Every student has to securea minimum of 80% attendance in all the subjects taken individually in each Semester to be eligible to appear in the End-Semester examination. Student, who falls short of requisite attendance, shall not be permitted to take end Semester examination.

Application Fees/ Payment

• Rs.2,000/- (Rupees Two Thousand Only) –Non-Refundable
• Rs.1,500/- for Reserved Category with Proof of Reservation

Fees And Payment Details

• Rs. 1,60,000/- (Rs. One Lakh Sixty Thousand only) for Maharashtra Domicile.
• Rs. 1,80,000/- (Rs. One Lakh Eighty Thousand only) for Non-Maharashtra Domicile. USD 3500/- (USD Three Thousand Five Hundred only)for Foreign Nationals.

Course Fees: The fees for the full one program is Rs.1, 60,000 (Rs. 80,000 for I & Rs. 80,000 for II Semester) for Maharashtra Domicile & Rs.1,80,000 (90,000 for I & 90,000 for II) Non-Maharashtra Domicile/All India General. The Course fees is inclusive of admission fees, tuition fees and library. It does not include lodging and boardingcharges.

If the candidate decides to opt out of the program after paying the admission fee and the first installment of ₹80,000 towards the Course fees, a full refund will be given if s/he request the University within 7 days from the date of payment. However, after 7 days of such payment,no refund shall be given. The request for refund is to be made by sending an email at llmexec@mnlumumbai.edu.in.
