In an effort to protect the rights of the strays and those who feed them, Thukral Law Associates has initiated an awareness campaign.
The goal is to spread awareness and make people conscious of the rights pertaining to the voiceless beings. Every day, numerous strays are being subjected to cruelties by the man-kind. Even though there are laws in force to adequately curb the issue, the lack of awareness is something that's preventing its proper implementation.
By way of spreading information through posters, house-to-house visits, and conducting workshops, the Associates aim to deliver the importance of co-habitation amongst the two species.
Mr. Karan S. Thukral, Advocate and the brain behind the initiative exclaimed- "Humans have been provided with additional or superior abilities and features so that they can provide for other creatures too, and not simply establish their own dominion to rule over them in barbarous ways. The idea of coexistence fell to the ground the moment when the mindset of having this entire planet exclusively to ourselves built up in the minds of people. Animals do not merely exist to cater to our needs as and when required. We simply cannot be so ruthless as to violate their personal territories for our mercenary goals or for any other possible intention." when asked of his views on the awareness campaign.
He further stated "Gone are the days when the civil society had to step up for the cause. As responsible citizens and advocates, it is our duty to ensure proper implementation of the laws framed by the legislature and that propounded by the Courts."
The rate at which animal-human conflict is spiking, has raised serious concerns. From the days of yore, the vicinities have been shared by animals and humans. However, co-habitation has recently become a matter of issue. The Nations have gone on to set up Animal Welfare Courts, recognizing the animals as subjects and not mere objects of the play. The organizations working at the international level have been playing a crucial role in providing assistance in improving the overall welfare of the animals across the globe. But what is required further is augmenting the ground realities in relation to the well-being of these animals. India is a diverse country not just in its culture but also in its bio-diversity and subsequently, it is up and coming that such changes be made immediately for the betterment of the society.
