    The Supreme Court Collegium on Wednesday recommended names of three advocates to be appointed as judges of the Delhi High Court.

    The names are Ajay Digpaul, Harish Vaidyanathan Shankar and Shwetasree Majumder.

    In its resolution passed today, the Collegium, headed by Chief Justice of India, Justice DY Chandrachud, has said that the inter se seniority of the judges will be fixed as per the existing practice.

    Regarding Advocate Ajay Digpaul, the resolution has said that he has a good practice and considerable experience of 31 years in several branches of law and that his professional competence is viewed to be good and there is nothing adverse regarding his integrity.

    Regarding Advocate Harish Vaidyanathan Shankar, the Collegium has said that he has extensive practice which is reflected in 180 reported judgments and that he his average net professional income is Rs. 162.16 lakhs per annum during the last five years.

    Regarding Advocate Shwetasree Majumder, the Collegium has said that she has extensive practice of more than 21 years and vast experience in various branches of law which would be a valuable addition to the Delhi High Court Bench.

    “Besides, her elevation would promote diversity and inclusivity on the Bench of the High Court. The expertise of the candidate in the area of Intellectual Property Rights is of significant importance in view of the pendency of such matters in the High Court which are being dealt with by a dedicated IP Division,” the resolution states.
