Just a few days after the Supreme Court came across a social media handle impersonating Chief Justice of India Dhananjay Chandrachud and seeking Rs 500, the Bombay High Court too has flagged a similar issue wherein citizens are getting "fake calls" in the name of the judges of the High Court and the scamsters are demanding money.

The High Court Administration learnt about such instances of fake calls being made to citizens impersonating judges of the HC and also as Judicial Officers and money being demanded through such calls and messages or links etc.

The HC admin through Registrar General flagged the issue by cautioning the citizens not to fall prey to such calls or messages and rather report the same to the nearest police station.

"It is brought to the attention of the High Court Administration that some calls are being made in the name of the Judges of the High Court demanding money. It is also brought to the attention that text messages/links are being sent/shared/circulated involving Judicial Officers working under control of the Bombay High Court. It seems that some unknown persons are making these calls and sending text messages/links portraying fake identity involving names of the Judges of the HC and Judicial Officers working under its supervision. Such instances may be reported to jurisdictional police stations," the notice reads.

The notice further states that the HC admin is already independently initiating action against such miscreants and also taking this matter to law enforcement agencies.

"As a matter of caution and to avoid any loss to any individual, by this notice everyone is being informed that if any such calls, text messages/links are received, apart from not responding such calls, text messages/links, the same may be informed to the Nodal Officer Shri Rajendra T Virkar on his email rajvirkar@yahoo.com and/or cell phone No. 9821281445," the notice reads further.
