H.R.Seetharam, popularly known as HRS, was born on 13th Dec 1934 and was a successful and well known advocate. He also served as the Additional Government Pleader for a few years. He was an avid reader and had a great collection of books ranging through fiction, law, and philosophy. He was a regular speaker at various events not only concerning law but also religion, philosophy and literature. He was also a thinker and philosopher having composed many poems and devotional songs. He had a great love for technology and was always excited to try new gadgets like cameras, disc phonograms, spool tape recorders, and movie projectors. He was also a passionate photographer and used to develop negatives at home many years ago. He was a go-to person for many budding advocates. Also remembered by many for his help – like a local guardian to out station students, providing assistance to financially weaker families, be it education, marriage, or illness.

    HRS Foundation

The HRS Foundation has been instituted by the children of Late Sri. H.R. Seetharam in memory of their beloved parents Sudha and Seetharam. Although only one of the three children, Raghavendra Srivatsa, has taken to law and is practising as a Senior Advocate designated by the Supreme Court, HRS Foundation has taken initiatives of general social relevance. They have made contributions towards health facilities in the Chikkaballapura area. They have donated a huge number of books to the local Kempegowda Law College. HRS Memorial Lecture is held as an annual event and is conducted in collaboration with the local Bar Association. As requested by the members of the Bar, most part of the programme is conducted in the native language of Kannada. As part of the lecture event, a continuing legal education programme is also conducted. Leading practitioners and retired judges will conduct sessions of various aspects of civil and criminal practice. These workshop sessions will be an ongoing programme, to be held at frequent intervals. HRS Foundation is also intending to institute scholarships for deserving students, and is keen on sponsoring girl students from rural areas so that they are encouraged to pursue legal education.
