NGT Directed DPCC To Inquire The Operation Of Unauthorized Wooden Bed Factory In The Residential Area [Read Order]

The Principal Bench of National Green Tribunal has directed the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) to look into operation of unauthorized wooden bed factory in the residential area of Village Mohammadpur, R.K. Puram, causing sound and air pollution by use of thinner and other chemicals for polishing the furniture.
On an application filed by one Vijender Singh who claimed that the activity of the unit is having potential for damage to the health of the children. A bench led by Chairperson, Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel said "Let the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) look into the matter, take appropriate action in accordance with law and furnish a factual and action taken report in the matter within one month by e-mail at judicial-ngt@gov.in."
The bench also warned the authority that "Order of National Green Tribunal is binding
as a decree of Court and non-compliance is actionable by way of punitive action including prosecution, in terms of the National Green Tribunal Act, 2010." It has now posted the matter for further hearing on January 8, 2020.
