    The Punjab government has commenced the process of appointing a new Chairman for the Punjab Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) subsequent to the resignation of former Chairman Satya Gopal in February 2024. Almost a month after Gopal's resignation, Apneet Riyiat, Chief Administrator of Punjab Urban Planning & Development Authority (PUDA), was appointed to oversee the affairs of Punjab RERA in March 2024.

    The selection committee, formed under the provisions of section 22 of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, is now inviting applications from eligible candidates for the position of Chairperson of the Punjab Real Estate Regulatory Authority.

    Applicants are required to possess substantial knowledge and professional experience of at least twenty years in various fields such as urban development, housing, real estate development, infrastructure, economics, law, commerce, accountancy, industry, management, social service, public affairs, or administration. Moreover, candidates who have served in a position equivalent to Additional Secretary to the Central Government or higher, or have relevant experience in the State Government, are eligible for consideration.

    The application process must adhere to the prescribed format, and interested candidates can access the application form on the official website rera.punjab.gov.in or pbhousing.gov.in. Applications can be submitted via email, registered post, or in person, with a deadline set for 24th May 2024. Further terms and conditions will be in accordance with the Punjab State Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Rules, 2017, and relevant guidelines issued by the government.
