Book Review: Sexual Harassment Of Women At Workplace By Govind Kumar Saxena

The book is an endeavor to provide impetus in creating awareness and provide information on this issue and is divided into eight chapters and five appendices.

The book compiles landmark cases on sexual harassment (worldwide) recorded and registered till January 2020, including the famous Vishaka case where the Supreme Court has laid down guidelines and norms for the state governments for due observance at all workplaces. The book also covers a detailed material issued by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (University Grants Commission); which will be useful for all related to the field.

The Appendix-IV of this book is quite worthwhile and useful as it details how to register an online complaint in the 'SHE' box which is a portal of the Government of India for registering such cases.

Chapter-V of the book elaborates and defines sexual harassment, kinds of sexual harassment at workplace, jurisdiction of local complaint committee and features some common questions, doubts and their answers. The book enumerates the punishment awarded under the act and the provisions of appeal.

The author was honoured by the Institute of Human Rights, Colombo (Sri Lanka) in 2009 for his contribution in the field of protection of human rights in India, and is a recipient of awards and honours like National Smile Matrimonial Behaviour Management Award in 2010, Prayag Gaurav Samman in 2010, Gangadoot Samman in 2011, Sahitya Setu Samman in 2013.
