The Collegium led by Chief Justice P Sathasivam has recommended elevating Justice Shiva Kirti Singh and Justice C Nagappan to the Supreme Court. The Collegium led by Chief Justice P Sathasivam has recommended elevating Justice Shiva Kirti Singh and Justice C Nagappan to the Supreme Court. Justice Singh is serving as the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court and Justice Nagappan is serving as the Orissa High Court Chief Justice.
With these two elevations, the strength of the Court will go up to 30 as against the sanctioned number of 31.
Justice Singh was a permanent Judge of the Patna High Court before being transferred to the Allahabad High Court in 17th October, 2012. He was later appointed as the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court on 4th February, 2013.
Justice Nagappan hails from the Madras Bar and was a permanent Judge of the Madras High Court. He was directly recruited as District Judge in 1987 and later elevated to the Madras High Court in 2002. He became the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court on 27th February, 2013.
