Indian Journal of Environmental Law (IJEL) a flagship journal of the Centre for Environmental Law Education, Research and Advocacy (CEERA), National Law School of India University is an annual, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to providing a forum for incisive legal scholarship on important current issues in environmental law.  It aims to be a platform for students, academics and practitioners to comment upon contemporary developments in the field of environmental law, with a special focus on Indian jurisprudence and policy.

The Indian Journal of Environmental Law (IJEL) is now accepting submissions for its upcoming issue – Volume 7.

Nature of Contributions



  1. Articles (5000-8000 words)
  2. Short Notes (3000-5000 words)
  3. Case Comments/Legislative Reviews (1500-2500 words)
  4. Book Reviews (800-1000 words)


Submission Guidelines



  1. Submissions should adhere to the following format



  • Body:
  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Font size -12
  • Line Spacing: 1.5
  • Alignment: Justified.



  1. Footnotes



  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Font size -10
  • Line Spacing: 1
  • Alignment: Justified



  1. All citations must be strictly in accordance withThe Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (19th). Authors should be prepared to supply any cited sources upon request.
  2. Co-authorship, with a maximum of two authors is allowed.
  3. Articles and Short Notes must be accompanied by an abstract of not more than 300 words. No abstract is required for Book Reviews or Case Comments/Legislative Reviews. Authors are encouraged to send in their abstract prior to the submission of the articles.
  4. Submissionsmay be made to ijelcc@nls.ac.in.
